After leaving Skye, Gavin and I continued our Scottish whisky travels with a stop at Oban.
When we arrived, we were mid-journey to Tarbert on the Kintyre peninsula, and as such did not have enough time to do a full range of sampling. Instead, after a free Cragganmore sample, we opted to try the most expensive dram that they had!
Oban 21 Year Old Limited Release 2018 (only 170~ bottles)
Key facts: £25/ 25ml dram, £450/ 700ml bottle
57.9%
Nose: custard, vanilla, spice, juniper, salty
Palate: velvety whipped butter toffee, rich and smooth, well balanced
Finish: flash of savoury (BBQ sauce?) then red liquorice, very rich and warming, red fruits, long lasting
Rating: 94/100 which is Fucking Excellent, although perhaps the price is merely Good
I’ll call you “daddy” if you bring some home!

Daddy’s wallet is getting a little thin. But if I can find somebody to call mummy, then maybe there will be a trickle down effect..

Like 0.9 fl oz. I am super disappointed that they sell spirits by the ml, rather than the ounce, because it shortchanges us by 3mls (whatever 3mls is, unmeasurable bullshite). Unlike in good old Canada!
