The final stop on our travel day to Cambridge was in Oxford, where we had a round in The Eagle And Child, famous for being the preferred watering hole of the Inklings! If you don’t think you know who they are, you might be mistaken, for the Inklings included none other than J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and a few other guys that I can forgive you for not knowing.
Day 5 was spent in Leicester, visiting relatives, and exploring the city.
Day 6 was spent exploring Suffolk, mainly Beccles (the hometown of my great grandmother) Dunwich, and Southwold.
We then journeyed north to York, stopping on the way in Lincoln to admire the cathedral and sample pints of Marston’s Pedigree. It tasted like this.
Nose: fruity, malt
Palate: very soft and smooth, nicely balanced
Finish: spice, dry lingering hopness
Overall: very drinkable!
Rating: 4/5 Excellent
