Recently I invited my mates Scott and Evan over for an evening of cake and conversation. Scott was kind enough to bring along a bomber of the Whistler Dark And Stormy, and so we shared it three ways with our cookies ‘n’ cream cake! He was apparently inspired in his choice by rumours of the evening Evan and I had spent pounding authentic Dark ‘N’ Stormy’s on Evan’s sailboat back in September. No doubt the lighthouse on the label probably helped the choice too!
The Whistler Brewing Company: Dark And Stormy, Ale brewed with Ginger.
Appearance: dark! some beige head
Nose: malty, rich, ginger, molasses
Palate: tonic water, ginger, coffee, hops
Finish: lovely ginger notes, biscuits, molasses
Overall: this beer does a good job masquerading as a dark rum ‘n’ ginger beer!
Rating: 3/5 Good
