For those of you who have never heard of Mail Art, it is essentially a global movement of anything creative that can be sent via post. Most often this means homemade postcards and drawings on envelopes, but it can also involve music, poetry, and found art. For those readers requiring further explanation, the Wikipedia page is a good read, and Ross Priddle’s blog Bentspoon is a prime example of an all encompassing, non thematic, ongoing Mail Art exhibit. Poke about his archives a little bit; the Mail Art he has received ranges from the bizarre to the beautiful. For examples of a themed exhibit, take a look at this one about Marie Antoinette, or this one about Welcome to Montana.
With that introduction out of the way, I would like to announce the commencement of my very own Mail Art exhibit. Starting now, and ongoing indefinitely, I will post photos or scanned images onto my blog of any Mail Art that is sent to me provided that it relates to the theme of “Pubs and Alcohol”. This could be a postcard made from a collage of beer labels, a poem written about vineyards, entertaining tastings notes, or a drawing of a pub on an envelope. The possibilities are endless! Those who send me art can expect a suitable response.

Cheers, and thank you in advance to everyone who participates or gets a friend to participate!
