I bought this bottle at a Safeway in Washington State during the summer of 2013. It cost me about $45USD back when the Canadian dollar was on par with the greenback. At a BC Liquor Store this will cost you about $100; which jurisdiction do you think has higher liquor and import taxes?
The Macallan 12 Year Old: Sherry Oak Cask
Appearance: A nice golden colour. 43% alcohol.
Nose: Sweet peaches, sherry, tropical fruits such as mangoes, and a tinge of the sea.
Palate: Mostly sweet with canned cherries (reminiscent of my granny’s recipe) toffee, and sherry, but also some marmalade.
Finish: Sweet kale, buttered yams and sweet potatoes. Turns into a lingering oaky alcohol taste.
Overall: Very tasty, an enjoyable drink. Pairs well with Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder. They are both sweet, complex, uplifting, and packaged in orangey bronze.
Rating: Malt rating 88/100. At $100 in BC that is perhaps a Good price, but the price that I paid for this sucker was Fucking Excellent!
